For Stockings Vixen: Aristoc Wet Look Tights

Friday, May 8, 2009

Finally, the time has come for part 3 of 3 for my hosiery review giveaway. Hopefully it has been as fun and informative for you, the reader, as it has been for me! Today's review is brought to you by Stocking Vixen, who had me review the Wet Look Tights by Aristoc.

I was certainly glad to see this as one of the choices as I was intrigued to see how these looked and felt on me. I loved the idea, but wasn't sure how well the manufacturer would pull it off in the end...I mean...would my legs really look wet? Also, I think you're walking a fine line with this type of look. I got flashbacks of my youth when heavy metal rockers, with big hair, lots of makeup, and, yes, shiny spandex pants were all over MTV. On the other hand, I love...LOVE...attention grabbing stockings and tights, as long as they are done in a subtle enough way...no one needs to be hit over the head, after all. Would these tights be able to pull off the delicate balancing act of drawing attention to oneself in a tasteful way? I couldn't wait to find out.

When these arrived in the mail from MyTights.com and I pulled them out of the package, I immediately noticed the sheen on these. They did, in fact, appear damp, even as they were still folded up and banded. My other immediate note was the weight and thickness of the material. No question that these are sturdy, durable, opaque tights. Good thing the weather here has been cold, damp, and raw lately.

The tights themselves are incredibly comfy and as stretchy as you'd like. I continue to be nothing but impressed when it comes to Aristoc and their products. For the money they charge, you cannot beat them.
On my legs the stretch did not dull the color or the sheen one bit. I'm kicking myself for getting the charcoal color rather than the purple. I'm certain the color really would've popped with those tights. Nonetheless, the charcoal color also looked great. They do a decent bit of shaping and really show off ones legs with that eye catching sheen. Do they make your legs look wet? Yes, I would say they would certainly be looking so on my legs right now. Again though, I can't stress enough, there is nothing cheesy 80s spandex about these things.

Finally, as you wear these throughout the day, you'll find them continue to grow more and more comfortable, as they continue to conform to your body shape. When I first put them on, I struggled a bit with them, in terms of smoothing them out and preventing the tights from bunching anywhere on my leg. And then, almost magically, everything just sort of falls into place.

I would recommend these to anyone who is on the fence about how these tights may look and feel. I strongly believe that you will not be disappointed. Sometimes the $29.50 price tag can make one wonder if the risk is worth the potential disappointment. But I believe these tights bring a lot to the table and are well worth the money. With their durability, you'll probably find these lasting long enough to pay themselves back. I put them through hell this morning when I was first putting them on, and they easily withstood the abuse.

These tights are 90% nylon and 10% elastane. With the exception of the thin waistband, the wet look continues throughout the tights. You can wear these with pretty much anything you'd like. They are 90 denier and come in charcoal, midnight (a deep blue), and purple. They only come in SM and ML, but I swear you could fit two of me in the ML. They have as much stretch as you could possibly need.

So that concludes my three-part review. I hope it was helpful and informative.

...oh except for that part about naming a winner....who is....

....to be revealed this afternoon. (god, I feel like a cheesy news-teaser headline on AOL). Oh well...
