Falke Eve Hold Ups

A few weeks back my usual Thursday 'One of Three' post involved three different leg wear options from one of my favorites, Falke, when it comes to leg wear. To me, it was a no-lose situation. Whichever option the commenters picked, I was going to get to review yet another Falke item. I couldn't go wrong.

That said, I was taken by how gorgeous the Falke Eve Hold Ups were when I came across them, and I was even more glad that they were the ones chosen by the commenters. Even as Falke hold ups go, these were stunning. I couldn't wait to order them and give them a try.

The verdict? I couldn't be happier. These completely met my every expectations. First off, they are absolutely gorgeous. The stockings have a matte finish in white, which is made from a sheer lace pattern. These are more like a really really really tight fishnet than they are sheer nylon stockings. On top of the stocking, is a gorgeous pattern of opaque leaves and flowers, that encircle thin white pinstripes as they descend down the leg. You really can't take your eyes off this pattern.

Even better, they feel great.

The hold ups are made from a blend of 93% polyamide and 7% elastane, except for the hold up band, which is an 83/17 blend of the same fabrics. The stockings have a 20 denier sheerness. They come in small, medium, and large and should comfortably fit heights anywhere from 4'9" to 5'11". They are available in ivory, amethyst, and black. I chose ivory because I thought it would make the pattern show up better. The hold ups cost (about $36.60).

One of Three...and a Giveaway!

I've decided that it's time for a long overdue giveaway. Since I've gotten so many great comments lately on the stuff I've profiled I'd like to give away one winner a free pair of Falke leg wear. How can you win it? Read on.

This week we're back to leg wear as I've noticed that I've been neglecting Falke, one of my favorite brands. During the time since my last Falke purchase, they've introduced a whole slew of new stuff, which isn't really all that surprising as no one turns their styles over as quickly as Falke, when it comes to leg wear. I've poured over all of Falke's new stuff and narrowed it down to three possibilities. Falke Maxime Tights

They're Falke and they're tights, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to love them.

Falke often goes sheer throughout with most of their tights. With the Maxime Tights, however, there's a boxer brief at the top. On the model it appears to come almost down to the mid-thigh. From there a very pretty wide diamond shape takes over. The website is a bit sketchy on the details, but it appears the pattern continues down to near the toe. There is a reinforced toe at the very bottom. There's also a small circle where each of the diamonds connect which adds just a bit to this look. Finally, the circles are repeated again around the waistband. It's supposed to be a unique take on argyle, and I think its very well done.

The tights come in two sizes, Small/Medium and Medium/Large. The only color option is black. The tights are 91% polyamide, 7% elastane, and 2% cotton. Typically, that type of polyamide (or nylon) count means a pretty sheer and pretty delicate tight. They cost £20.00 (about $32 USD).

Falke Eve Hold Ups

Looking at these stunning hold ups make me wonder why I didn't include them in the hold ups post a while back. The Falke Eve Hold Ups is feminine floral lace at its absolute very best. Pictured here, in ivory, the stay ups have an opaque pattern of leaves and flowers descending down the leg against a sheer background. Behind the pattern, almost too subtle to be seen in the picture, are opaque pinstripes that descend down the leg, beneath the pattern.

At the top the band seems to have a pinstripe design as well, but no lace embellishment. These are a very pretty and feminine take on a leg wear piece that most often is sexy and inviting, creating almost the perfect combination. These are among the prettiest hold ups, I've come across recently.

They are also available in black and amethyst. In either case, the floral pattern is the same color as the sheer leg, just not as sheer. I haven't seen the other two colors pictured, but it's hard to believe they could be any better than the ivory.

These hold ups are 80% polyamide, 11% polyester, and 9% elastane. They come in sizes 1-3 in the three colors mentioned above. They cost £22.00 ($36).

Falke Cotton Touch Footless Leggings

With the cold weather steadily approaching, it's probably time I start reviewing some leggings. Given how in love I am with falke tights and stockings, I have to imagine I'd love their leggings. The Cotton Touch Footless Leggings seem like a good place to start as they are your basic legging with a blend of cotton.

They're 60 denier, so they should have some level of transparency to them, though they should still be thick and comfy. They are intended to fit right down at the ankle, so they'd be perfect for boots of any height, which is always key. Finally, if they have the comfort and softness of the Falke tights, I may never want to wear anything else!

The leggings are a blend of 50% polyamide, 43% cotton, and 7% elastane. They come in 4 different sizes (small through extra large) and four different colors (amethyst, cigar, opal, and sapphire...or for those of us who don't come up with fancy names for our colors: brown, black, green, and maroon....ish). These leggings cost £13.00 (about $21 USD).

So, once again, we're looking at three great pieces from one great designer. It's all a matter of which you like best and what you'd like to hear more about.

Tights for a Happy Autumn

With the change in seasons upon us, lots of new styles of tights have emerged. I thought I'd take a minute to highlight a few of the ones that have caught my eye.

One of my all time favorites, Falke, has just introduced one of their most opaque tights yet. The Falke Pure Matt 100D Tights are perfect for the fast-approaching winter weather. They are, as you've probably guessed by now, 100 denier, so they are built to keep your legs warm and allow you to continue to wear skirts and boots throughout the season.

They come in a huge variety of colors allowing a match for virtually and clothing combinations. They're also advertised to be extremely soft (as Falke always is) so they're certain to be extra comfortable during the season when you need it most.

They come in seven different colors. They are available in S/M and M/L. They have a matte finished, sheer panty, reinforced toe, and cotton gusset. They cost £17.00 (about $28).

Another of my current favorites is the Levante Sheer Lines Tights. They are sheer black tights that are dressed up with darker lines running down the length of the legs throughout. I think these have a very sexy look and can work with a variety of looks, either dressy or more casual. I think they'd look great with a pair of heels, rather than boots, since the stripes help elongate the look of the leg.

These tights are made in Italy with luxury yarn. Judging by the several other pairs of Levante tights that I own, these are a fabulous value for the money.

These tights are a blend of 85% polyamide, 13% elastane, and 2% cotton. They are significantly more sheer than the Falke tights, with a denier count of 15. These are available in sizes medium, tall, and extra tall, all in black only. These tights cost £9.95 (about $16), and, as I said above, that is an excellent value.

Another option, that is excellent for this time of year is the Pamela Mann Opaque Open Holes Tights. With a more opaque finish and much larger holes, this is an excellent alternative to fishnets. These could be worn with either boots or heels, or perhaps even over another pair of colored tights, to create an even more unique look.

This really is a look that can certainly catch the eye of onlookers. I think this would be a perfect weekend look for going out to concerts or parties.

These tights are 87% nylon and 13% lycra. They are one size only and also available just in black. I think these are very reasonable at £8.95 (about $15). I've seen similar styles from places like Leg Avenue which make a really low quality product. The Pamela Mann option here, for just slightly more money, should prove to be a much better fit and much more durable.

Finally, I just had to throw a pair of tights with some sort of effect into this post because, as you must know by now, I am always a huge fan. The Le Bourget Ofelia Tights, which are made in France, have a stunning lace up boot-like effect, that I am absolutely in love with.

These are sheer black tights that, just below the knee, start out with a woven lace effect. It has a lace like effect up either side of the front of the leg and and the look that the lace is crossing the front of the leg, all the way up. The laces come to a nice bow knot at the top. At the bottom the lace effect continues around the top of the foot.

These tights have quite a bit of gorgeous detail. I've seen a similar type done with Wolford, but these from Le Bourget go into quite a bit more detail. These tights would be great for any occasion that called for a unique look and a bit of fun detail.

These tights are 85% nylon, 10% lycra, and 5% polypropylene. The denier varies as they are both sheer and opaque. They come in four different sizes allowing them to fit anyone from five feet to six foot one comfortably. These tights cost £19.95 (about $33).

Wilde About Color

Falke is a lot of things. Predictable is not one of them. Much like my other tights favorite, Wolford, I find myself looking forward to new items being introduced. Most often, especially lately, I am never disappointed.

Lately, unlike Wolford, who stick to mostly blacks and beige, Falke is doing a lot with color. Most of these attempts to infuse color into their tights and stocking collections are direct hits. The Wilde Fashion Tights are most certainly no exception. In these tights, Falke infuses colors, either pink or blue, in "tie-dye" or "cloud-like fashion' on top of sheer white tights. White tights, themselves much less common than they were 10-15 years ago, are unique enough. The color choices they are paired with really push these tights over the top, in terms of uniqueness. As you may have guessed, I went with the pink color.

The tights have a solid white reinforced toe. Immediately after the toe the color pattern begins and is blended in nicely, all the way up the leg, on top of the sheer white. The pattern stops finally at the panty, which is a boxer brief. The panty, though solid white, remains sheer up to the waistband. The style is nicely done. The tights are imaginative, yet the color is pleasant to the eye and not the least bit over the top. These tights can be worn all day long without the pattern growing overwhelming in any sort of way.

The Wilde Tights are a blend of 89% polyamide, 10% elastane, and 1% cotton. They are 15 denier and have a cotton gusset. They also have a comfort waistband. They're available in small/medium and medium/large in pink and blue. They currently cost £22.95 ($38).

Shelina 12

Much of the Falke hosiery I've reviewed in this blog involved prints, colors, stay up effects, or other such bells and whistles. Overall, my impression has always been better than good. But Falke also makes a more every-day type hosiery. Does that pass the test as well?

The Shelina 12 is certainly one of the more basic tight that Falke carries. As the name suggests, they are 12 denier. As the website insists, these do indeed feel like a breath of fresh air on your legs. They just have a real sort of fine feel to them and are, indeed, ultra transparent. They are also completely sheer throughout (with just a seam on the toe that is supposed to be ladder resistant).

The package states that these tights have a shimmer. If they do, it is just the slightest one at that. I really can't see it myself. But despite this they look and feel great and just continue to grow more and more comfortable as the day goes on. Despite the low price tag, these seem to possess the same quality that Falke's pricier offerings can boast.

They are 97% polyamide and 3% elastane. They're available in small, medium, large, and extra large, and are also available in low rise in those 4 sizes. They are available in a range of five colors, starting from a light beige (crystal) all the way to black. They cost only £6.95, so they're definitely worth checking out. I like mine a lot.

Save Some Pounds

If you haven't yet gone over to see the special offers section of Stockings HQ...well...what are you waiting for? When you do you will find lots of good stuff. It includes trusted brands like Falke, Jonathan Aston, Levante, and a few that, I confess, I have yet to try myself. But now might be the perfect opportunity.

Remember back when I reviewed the Falke Bardot Tights? Well, I paid $45 for them then, you can get them now for £10.95 (about $18.10)...and yes, I'm jealous.

While you're there, go for the Deneuve Tights, which is almost the exact opposite pattern...for only £10.95 as well. These have a floral pattern with capri length coverage that remains sheer from below the knee to the toe. What would they look like together...one has to wonder.

The Deneuve are 74% nylon, 15% polypropylene, 10% lycra and 1% cotton. They are 15 denier. Currently they are available in black on rose in small and medium only...may be time to hurry.

I have never tried Primavera. And now that I see some of the styles and patterns they are capable of, I can't believe I haven't. Side seam patterns, back seam patterns, all over patterns Primavera has them all. And while they're not all that pricey to begin with, this sales makes them all that more affordable.

For £6.95 or less you can have any of a number of different styles. I had a hard time picking just one for this blog, but I settled on the Amelia hold ups. These things are gorgeous. They're fishnet with a back seam that ends about 2/3 of the way down between the back of the knee and the ankle. There the seam is finished off quite nicely with a lovely bow.

These are 93% nylon and 7% lycra. Available in only black but in small through large fitting anyone 5'10" and under. Finally, they're made in Italy. Tell me you don't love these. And please, check out all the Primavera patterns, some of them are just beautiful.

Finally, do you think £12.13 ($20) is a good price to pay for 100% nylon, 15 denier, Cuban heeled, fully fashioned stockings? I certainly do. And that's how much these stocking from Gio are right now.

Coming in 8 different colors and sizes from 8.5 to 11, this truly is a stock up opportunity for lovers of the full fashioned stockings. These things can consistently twice as much and often much much more than that. These are hand made in the UK and almost guaranteed to go fast.

Well, if you're still reading this instead of ditching my blog for StockingsHQ...what are you waiting for? There are many more brand names and styles to check out. I've merely scratched the surface.

Better Late Than Never?

Typically, I do not like like to post reviews of items that are no longer available for sale. One of my goals is for readers to use this blog as a tool when shopping. I hope that I can point them to or away from items that I've tried. The way I look at it, we all have limited resources, when it comes to disposable income. When I've tried something that I love, I like to suggest it to my readers. When I try something that is a waste of money, I would also like my readers to know this, in case they want to avoid. At the same time, I guess, when I try something that's so-so, I can tell my readers that too, and they can make their own decisions as to whether they want this item or not.

All of this said, I am in love with the Falke Bennett tights. Yet, I can't find them for sale anywhere, anymore. For whatever reason, they went quickly and are no longer available. For me, I bought them a while back, but haven't tried them until now...which is too bad, because these most certainly would've fallen under the "recommend" category.

At any rate, I'll talk about them for a moment anyway, because you never know when you might see them in a store or on ebay or something like that. If you do, grab 'em. Or, if Falke comes out with something similar in future lines, they might just be worth it as well.

These tights have a ton going on. They've got a wide fishnet texture pattern with polka dots at each crossing of the net. This is done over a sheer hose, all in black. This starts right after the solid toe reinforcement and continues up to mid-thigh, to create the stay up illusion. From there, the stay up band illusion is two solid lines enclosing a lighter sheer strip with flowers all around it. Above that is a more opaque boxer brief. The brief, however, still has plenty of give and is quite comfortable. Falke pulls all of these looks together for what proves to be a stunningly beautiful and very comfortable pair of tights.

They are 92% polyamid, 7% elastane, and 1% cotton. The stay ups are 15 denier and the panty is 30 denier. I am truly in love with these tights! I only wish I had told you about them sooner.

Extra Extra Special

Okay. So sales and discounts are good, no one is going to deny that. But sometimes, you need a little something extra that really makes you feel good about yourself. Hosiery always makes me feel good, but that extra special pair can just sometimes give me that little extra boost. The prettiness, the femininity, and yes...the luxury...can make that ordinary day at the office just that little bit more special. I guess, today was the day.

It's probably been about a month since I purchased the Falke Bardot tights. They've been sitting in a dresser drawer, in their original package, doing nothing for weeks, while I walked around in discount department store hosiery or tights that I bought forever ago and wore many times. Sometimes I'd be getting ready in the morning and I'd see the package, still unopen, looking up at me: woman, side view, leaning over with one leg kicked backward in the air, long blond hair hiding most of her face...but those gorgeous, beautiful tights in perfect view until they disappear into black satin pumps. When was I going to put them on, myself? Why had I waited so long? Why resist the urge?

In short, I don't know. I lusted after these tights the second I first saw them. I finally got them and I couldn't bring myself to open the package. It was like that bottle of wine, that would never be the same, the second the cork was pulled.

But I wasn't going to wait forever. The day would come when I would be wearing these lovely tights for the first time. That day was today. I knew I would love them. I was not disappointed.

These tights felt like typical Falke. They had a softness, a smoothness, and a sheerness that rivals Wolford. When putting them on, I'm quite convinced, you have to leave yourself an extra couple of minutes to run your hands up and down your legs and take in how good they feel, a couple of minutes to gaze in the mirror and admire how good they look. These tights are really that good.

From the picture you can see that they're a light, light beige (or powder) color with the ultra feminine knee-high effect done with staggered flowers with a ring of black flowers across the top to create the top of the knee-high. What the picture does nothing for is the ultra shine that these tights give off. It really is quite radiant. You won't be able to stop looking. These tights have truly vaulted right to the top of my tights collection. There is no doubt that these are among my very favorites.

They are 81% polyamide, 9% polypropylene, 9% elastane, and 1% cotton. They are 15 denier. The package states that they're available in 5 different sizes, but mytights only has the S/M and M/L sizes. They are only available in the powder/black color, which, to me, is fine because that will only help you appreciate the contrast. They have a reinforced toe and a cotton gusset. The sheerness continues from the toe reinforcement all the way to the waistband. And just to reiterate, they have a beautiful, beautiful shine. Yes, they cost $45. But if you are looking for an extra-special pair of tights, and you don't mind parting with the money, you probably can't do much better than these. They were most certainly worth the wait.

Stay Ups You Can Feel Good About

When it comes to hosiery, there is little doubt that Falke is one of those brands that rises above the rest of the pack. They may not be the least expensive, and there might be similar alternatives out there, but when you buy Falke, you can be pretty sure they're going to deliver.

Such an example of this is the Lunelle 8 stay ups. What you have here, is a basic stay up stocking, but its done well, and it still manages to be unique without being over the top. It's a powder toned stocking which, personally, is a good match for my skin color. It has no back seams, patterns or designs. What it does have is a contrast top in a variety of colors. I'm boring and chose black, but I could've chosen red, white, or ivory. It gives you a little chance to spice up some basic stay ups, either for your own pleasure or perhaps for a little surprise to someone else.

What's really nice about these, at the end of the day, though, is the quality. They have quite the transparent texture which throws just the right amount of lustre off of your legs. The peacock feather style lace tops are high quality and quite pretty. Beyond that, they just feel great. You'll recognize the quality as you pull them on in the morning, and it'll be a gentle reminder to you throughout the day, the softness of their feel, the smoothness of their touch. If you're anything like me, you'll soon be wishing all of your hosiery looked and felt this soft and this good.

The stay ups are 80% polyamide and 20% elastane. They are, as the name suggest, 8 denier. You can get them sized small to large and, perhaps what I like best about them, no matter how tall you are, you can wear these and they will fit comfortably. Where other brands larger sizes may barely reach the mid thigh on those of us who are a bit taller (and I am by no means a giant) these stay ups can come up as high on your thighs as you like, without overstretching the least.

These are a good buy and are available for £11.87 (about $16.37). Just don't be suprised if, at that price, you're back soon for more.

What to do?

I'm in love with many of the new styles recently put forth by Falke. The truth is, I could easily talk myself into buying several pairs of tights. But at $45 each, I'm going to resist the urge. After a winter in which I bought way too much Wolford, I'm cutting back (at least until I intentionally tear everything I own so I can have an excuse ;)).

So I'm buying one. I'm spending $45 to buy one of these and I'm going to wear them and love them. And out of all the styles I'm drooling over right now...it's gonna be one of these two...

There's the Bennet Tights. These tights have a opaque short that ends at the top of the thigh that gives way to a floral band, almost resembling a stay up. The rest of the leg down is polka dot diamond pattern down through the toe. The short is 30 denier and the rest of the leg is 15. They are 92% polyamide, 7% elastane, and 1% cotton. They come in only black and are sized small/medium or medium/large.

I love these tights. I like any tight with a stay up effect, and I'm a sucker for floral patterns. I'm quite certain I'd love these if I got a chance to wear them.

But there's also the Bardot Tights. These are truly unique and every time I'm tights shopping (which is all the time) I always end up coming back to these. I just love the way they look.

At the top they are just your regular sheer tights from the waist. They come in a powder color (a light beige) only. Just below the knee, the effect of a knee-high sock is created using black flowers. Continuous side by side black flowers make up the band and then more flowers are staggered throughout, all the way to the toe.

For all the tights I have with a stay up effect, these would be my first with a knee high sock effect. Not to mention, I'm a sucker for floral and feminine. These tights come with a shimmering effect and are 15 denier throughout. They're 81% polyamide, 9% polypropylene, 9% elastane, and 1% cotton. Again, they come in small/medium and medium/large.

So which to get? I want both but I have to settle for one. Anyone care to chime in and help me decide? As soon as I try them, I'll be posting a review of what I thought of these tights. I'll even include a picture!!!! (No, not of me ;))

Shelina 12

On the occasions where I wear Falke tights, I always find myself asking the same question: "Why don't I own more of these?". In my experience, there has been very little to dislike about Falke hosiery. With their outstanding quality, yet slightly lower prices, across the board, just call these "Wolford Lite".

The Shelina 12 is no exception. Without any patterns of textures, these would qualify as basics, as tights go. The only really unique thing about these tights is, despite the fact that they are very sheer, they do give off a bit of a shine. It's nothing over the top, but it is noticeable. If you select the right color, they can give your legs a little added tone to their color, and enough shine to give them a really healthy look.

As such, they are essential to any one's collection. They come in seven different tones, from Poudre (a very very light beige) to black. One should have little trouble matching their skin tone (or adding a bit of tone) for their legs. The ultra sheer 12 denier appearance, will require the closest of examinations for one to even tell you're wearing tights.

With the exception of the waist band, which is about an inch thick, these tights maintain the same sheerness throughout. You want to wear a really short skirt? You want to wear sandals? Neither would be a problem with these. What's more, is that these are among the smoothest and softest tights I have ever worn. They felt amazing as I gently tugged them up my legs this morning. They have felt great on my legs all day long. They are an absolute pleasure to wear. They feel every bit as great as my favorite pair of tights from Wolford.

They are 97% Polyamide and 3% Elastane. They come in sizes small (0) through extra large (V), with 4 other options in the middle. If you're anywhere from 4'9" or 95 lbs to 6'0" or 225 lbs, you should have no problem finding a size that will fit you comfortably. For $17 (a rather low price for Falke tights) these are a good pair to check out if you've never worn Falke before.

I have come to the conclusion that I should probably be buying more Falke products. I gave these net tights a go today, and I like them a lot.

They are the most delicate net tights I've ever worn. The net is pretty tightly knit together, leaving only the smallest holes. From a distance, these probably look more like sheer tights than net tights. They feel more like sheer tights too. But as you get close enough, you can see the small net pattern. I think these are very sexy with the required amount of elegance.

They feel absolutely delicious on. The net pattern goes uninterrupted up to the logo waistband, which is probably about an inch wide. They are 75% polyamide and 25% elastane. They come in 5 different sizes, so you'd think that it would be pretty easy to find a size that fits perfectly. Interestingly though, if you look at the size chart, I should not be a medium, but that's what I bought because, typically, I'm always a medium. As I suspected, the medium fit me perfectly. Therefore, I would suggest these probably run a bit bigger than the size chart would indicate. Keep that in mind if you're thinking of giving them a try. They also come in 4 different colors, black and then 4 shades of tan/brown. I got them in cocoon, which actually does a decent job blending in with my skin tone.

If you are thinking of giving them a try, you can get them here for a pretty reasonable $20.50. I think they're well worth it for that price. In terms of quality, they're like Wolford lite. So getting them at close to half of what Wolford would charge is worth it, in my opinion.
