More Opaques...

Monday, November 23, 2009

I thought I'd throw a few more inexpensive opaque tights options up here today. The opaques I've profiled thus far have been well-received, and with the winter just about here, you can't have enough opaques. These don't have quite the available color palette as the tights from Friday, but they come in the basics and will keep you warm, so they're definitely worth checking out.

The Aristoc Polished Opaque Tights are a good option. Aristoc is one of the better value brands around. These opaque tights certainly appear to fit that description. They resemble the liquid shine tights that I profiled on Friday in terms of texture and feel, but they have less of a shiny finish. They're also much less expensive than the liquid shine.

These tights are an opaque 50 denier. They also have a boxer brief and a reinforced toe. These tights are made of 92% nylon and 8% elastane. They come in two sizes in five different colors, including your basic black. These tights cost £6.04 ($9.97).

Charnos is much like Aristoc when it comes to quality and value. Their tights constantly stand up wear after wear and wash after wash. When you're looking for a basic opaque tight, you may need look no further than the Charnos 60 Denier Opaque Tights. They're significantly more opaque than the Aristoc tights above, with a 60 denier count to Aristoc's 50 denier count. When the cold, wet, and windy days hit the northeast up here, that 10 denier can make all the difference in the world.

Charnos is also one of the most inexpensive brands around. The drugstores around here charge the same amount for their opaque tights as Charnos. The problem with the drugstore tights is that they're most often thrown away after one wear due to overstretching or damage. The Charnos tights pay for themselves after one wear. No to mention they just feel like a higher quality than the generic brands, so why not feel better?

These tights are made from a blend of 94% nylon, 5% lycra, and 1% cotton. Unlike the Aristoc's that come in only 2 sizes, these tights come in small, medium, large, and extra large, allowing for a more custom fit. They also come in 9 different colors, but the colors are more black and gray type colors than the colorful looks I gave Friday. But when the winter rolls around, the darker colors usually lend themselves to easier outfit matching. These tights cost an amazing £4.84 ($7.99).

The final option of the day comes from a brand name that, I have to admit, I have not yet been able to try. I can't endorse the quality or the durability of Gypsy products, because its a new name for me. That said, most Italian made tights I've tried are of good quality, and these most certainly are worth the try, given the price tag.

The Gypsy Luxury Opaque 50 Denier Tights boast a price tag that is anything but luxury. But at 50 Denier, they're perfect for the upcoming winter months, when you want to keep your legs feeling a bit warmer, even in the season's worst.

These tights are made from a microfibre blend, so you can expect them to be soft, smooth, and comfortable. They also come in 10 different colors, including the all-important winter darks, such as, black, navy, charcoal, and forest. They are made from a blend of 92% nylon and 8% lycra. They are also available in small, medium, and large. For an amazing £3.19 ($5.27) why not get several different colors and be set for the winter?
