We Have a Winner

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

So I have a couple of follow up questions that came in through the comments section over the last week or two. I plan on getting to those tomorrow in a mini-post. Once again, just let me say I had a lot of fun reading and answering all of your questions. After a couple of weeks of Q&As, I definitely feel more connected to my readers. Thanks again to everyone and please continue to send in your questions...whenever you feel like asking one.

Also, back in the original post requesting your queries, I promised one lucky winner a $25 gift certificate to Sock Dreams, and I am here to deliver on that promise.

So the winner is....

Jennifer Fabulous of I Know, Right?! I absolutely loved her question about what the title would be if she wrote my biography. Jennifer, just know, that when I'm famous and its time for my biography to be written, I'm giving you the first offer to write it. Yes...even ahead of Chuck Klosterman!

I'll be getting in touch with you about where to send it...

Ask a Tights Lover...or Blog Envy

...and a $25 Sock Dreams e-gift card giveaway!

Some 2 1/2 years ago, I started this blog with the idea that I could express a side of myself that...well I couldn't very well express in my everyday life. During this time I've done it...to some degree, but I'm frustrated I haven't done more.

Even casual readers of my blog know my likes and dislikes. Where I tend to shop or what I tend to buy. But part of me definitely envies the blogger who can talk more openly about him/herself or even post photos (...stop staring at your screen in horror...I would not do that to you). I'm not sure what or how much to divulge.

...so I'm going to let you do it for me. Is there ever anything you wanted to know about me that I haven't touched on here? Maybe you want to know how/why my lingerie obsession began. Maybe you want to know how I accumulated so much useless knowledge about tights. Maybe you would like to see me post more/less about a certain lingerie item. Maybe you want to know who I'm picking to win the English Premier League this upcoming season. Whatever it is, I'd love for you to ask it...either in the comments section or by email. Sometime next week, I'll compile everything and lay it out here in Q&A format.

That's not all. By asking something, you're entering yourself to win a $25 gift certificate to Sock Dreams. One winner will be selected from all questions.

Thanks.

Flower Tatoo Fishnets...and Giveaway Winner!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Thanks to everyone who commented on my 'One of Three' post from a week ago. By the narrowest of narrowness, the Falke Eve Hold Ups were the most popular choice. From there, the randomly selected winner of the giveaway is.....Couture Carrie! Couture Carrie is the soon-to-be-proud-owner of these hold ups...so congratulations! Once again, thanks to all of you, we'll be doing this again, really soon.

A few weeks ago, the Free People Flower Tattoo Fishnets were among the two selected for that week's post, and I've finally gotten a chance to check them out. First, the tights themselves. I've purchased one-size-fits-all fishnets in the past and, for the most part, they've been pretty miserable. Anyone who's worn fishnets probably knows that too much or not enough stretch and the tights look bad. Happily, these are an exception. They comfortably fit my taller legs with plenty of room to spare. They're extremely comfortable, and the fishnet pattern looks extremely good on. For my first attempt at Free People tights, I have to say I like what I see.

As for the tattoo... It's done in felt appliqué. My first impression was that I wasn't going to like the way it looked or felt. The felt is kind of raised up from the fishnets, and I thought it would look bad and/or feel uncomfortable. I also didn't think the black on black would show up well. Turned out to be just the opposite. From any sort of distance, this actually looks pretty convincing...or tattoo-like. You also don't feel a thing as far as comfort. The only thing I'm keeping an eye on is how well the appliqué stays attached. It's $14, so I'm not going to sweat it to badly, but I would like to see it withstand a couple of washes.

But all-in-all I very much like what I see. This is a great alternative to the every day fishnet when you're looking for a little something extra.

These tights are 88% nylon and 12% spandex. They come in black only. Of course, they need to be hand washed. Definitely check them out, if you get the chance.

And the Winner Is.....

Stocking Vixen! Her name was randomly pulled out of a hat, which makes her the winner of my giveaway. So, Stocking Vixen, you get your choice of a pair of Wolford Medallion Tights (pictured on the left) or a $50 e-gift certificate to Dollhouse Bettie.

I have sent you along an email to let you know you won. Feel free to get in touch with me by emailing back or in the comments section below to let me know your choice. Thank you so much for playing and thank you for reading my blog and commenting frequently.

Thank you also Treacle and Sheen V for participating as well! Sorry your name didn't come up, but I'll be having one of these again real soon, so hopefully you'll get another chance.

To all, thank you for reading and enjoy your weekend!!

For Treacle: Magnolia Large Diamond Pattern Stockings

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

To refresh every one's memory, a while back I offered a giveaway with simple guidelines: posters could leave a comment in which they directed me towards a pair of tights or stockings to purchase. I would then provide the poster with a review on my blog. Anyone who posted with a link would automatically be entered in a drawing to win her or his choice of either a Dollhouse Bettie e-certificate or a pair of Wolford tights. I was provided with the links to two very intriguing pairs of tights and one gorgeous pair of stockings. So let the reviews begin!

One of my very favorite bloggers, Treacle of Stocking's Addict directed me towards these Large Diamond Pattern Stockings, made by Magnolia. I've given them their wear and what follows is what I have to say about them.

First of all, they are one of the more lovely pairs of stockings I own. They are made in the vintage style, so they are 100% nylon and 15 denier. Like many of the vintage stockings I own, they come with a reinforced heel and toe, which, while serving a very important purpose, are also very sexy, in my opinion. They also have a "looped toe closure" which means no toe seam which, while uncommon in today's stockings, may have been the norm in the 1960s. Now the 1960s are way before my time, but what could not be common enough, is the hand-stitched diamond pattern that these stockings come in. The pattern itself is large diamonds that are made up of much smaller diamonds. The closer you get to the stocking, the more this intricate pattern shows up. It is truly a stunning stocking to look at and incredibly sexy feeling on the leg...not only because of the vintage stocking feel, but also because of the beautiful way this pattern shows up on the leg. I'm not sure if these pictures give it justice, so you may just have to take my word for it, or better yet, buy your own pair as these are an almost mind-boggling $10.95 right now.

If I had one gripe about these stockings, it would be more on me than on the stockings themselves. They only come in small, medium, and large. Being a bit on the longer-legged side, I suppose, I often need the "tall girl" style stockings when I am buying vintage, which, as opposed to modern stockings, have virtually no stretch to them. But I did not have that option when it came to these, so I simply went with large. Now the large fits me fine and attaches effortlessly to my garter straps with room to spare, but, personally, I always like my stockings to come almost up to the belt themselves, leaving the smallest amount of leg possible for the straps. These barely reach my mid thigh. I'd be thrilled with just a couple more inches in length, but again, I still really really like these.

So again, thanks Treacle, as usual, you are dead on with stockings fashion sense.

A Very Special Thank You...

Monday, March 2, 2009

...to three people from three of my very favorite blogs: Treacle of Stockings Addict, Stocking Vixen and Sheen V. I very much appreciate your comments and look forward to wearing and reviewing your suggestions. I am definitely intrigued by both pairs of tights and the pair of stockings that were chosen for me. It will be a lot of fun wearing them.

The orders are on their way out so look for your reviews to be posted here very shortly. Once I receive my orders and I've reviewed everything, I'll throw the names in a hat and pick a winner. Once again, the lucky winner will have their choice of a Dollhouse Bettie gift certificate or a pair of Wolford tights. Odds of winning....uh...1 in 3.

Good luck and stay tuned!!

Giveaway Time!

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I decided that it has been long enough, and it's time for me to shamelessly solicit some more reader participation. And that's good news for one of you, as someone will be the lucky recipient of a giveaway.

I'm looking (as always) to add to my tights collection, and it's important to me that I am gearing my reviews towards those who read this blog. So this is your opportunity to pick a pair of tights that interest you and post the link to buy them here. Sheers, opaques, fishnets, patterns, or anything else goes. I'll order them, give them a good day-long wear and review the pros and cons of them here on my blog. My only request is that you try to keep my wallet in mind. I'd prefer not to spend hundreds of dollars on a single pair of tights, if I can avoid it. Other than that, anything goes, get as creative as you like.

As of a week from today (2/25), anyone who's posted a link is automatically entered. In the time it takes for my tights to reach me, as well as any additional time needed to wear them, you'll get a review.

What's better is out of whatever posts I've received from that day, I'll select one as the winner. The winner will get either a pair or Wolford tights, or a Dollhouse Bettie online gift card...his or her choice! Those who posted in my last giveaway know I'll deliver as promised. So I hope to hear from lots of people...and I can't wait to start buying my new tights.

Quick Note

Monday, November 24, 2008

To Trish and Treacle.

Earlier today, I sent out your gift certificate, you they should be in your inbox now.

If you did not receive them, you can shoot me an email, or reply here.

Hope you enjoy them, and, as always, thanks for reading my blog.

Some Good News...

Friday, November 21, 2008

...some not so good news.

For those of you who remember my reader participation post a couple of weeks ago, I ended up with a few different items to review from two people.

Well, today, my package arrived in the mail from Victoria's Secret, so I will be reviewing the Jacquard Startlet Panty and Startlet Garter Panty soon. Probably the beginning of next week.

Unfortunately, I have yet to receive my confirmation email from St. Tropez Leisure for the sheer heart knickers. It's been almost a week, so I may be calling them Monday morning to see what's going on.

At any rate, since I only had two people post links, I've decided to show my gratitude by sending them both $25 e-certificates to Babygirl Boutique, rather than draw a name out of two names in a hat. Those will be in the email for you next week as well. Enjoy!

Reminder

Thursday, November 13, 2008

If you want to pick me out a pair of panties and have them reviewed here AND be eligible for a $25 Babygirl Boutique e-certificate, today is the last day. You can see my post from November 6 for more detail on how to be eligible.

So far I already have a few very interesting panties picked out for me. I am definitely looking forward to giving them a try. So, for those of you who haven't posted anything yet, what are you waiting for? Don't miss your chance to pick out my panties and possibly win an e-certificate.

Note: Trish, if you read this, I do not have your email and you cannot be eligible for the e-certificate if I don't know where to send it. I hope to be posting some reviews soon!

Reader Participation?

Thursday, November 6, 2008

I'm looking for something new to try, and I feel like I'm constantly on the same websites, buying the same types of things. One of my favorite things to do on this blog is buy something new, try it on, wear it around for the day, and give some sort of review on it. But I probably get a bit redundant from time to time (Wolford tights come to mind).

So I'm humbly beseech any and all readers of this blog for your assistance. I'm looking for panties. Pick a name brand, style, and color, and I will buy it and provide a review through this blog, from my somewhat unique perspective. I'm not really sure right now if I'll pick one or if I'll try them all, but I will see how this works out the first time around. I like the thought of any reader I have taking control of this blog and taking control of my panty drawer (even if for only one day). Leave a comment of what you want me to get on this post and a week from today (November 13) I'll take whatever posts I have and start ordering.

What's in it for you? Well, if you post, and include your email address (or I have some way to find it) I will randomly select one respondent and send them a $25 e-certificate to the Babygirl Boutique. So go ahead and find a nice pair of panties. It can be anything you want. If you like my reviews of the pinup panties, go for those. If you laugh at the thought of me squirming around in a g-string all day, find one you like. If you've been checking out the new Victoria's Secret line and you like something there, that's fine too. Let's have fun with this.

If this works out as well as I hope, I'll try it again down the line with stockings, bras, and any and all types of lingerie. Hopefully I get some fun new additions to my collection and you get a review of the item from my perspective, as well as the opportunity to buy a little something of your own.
