New Season Dawning at Wolford (Part 3)

Thursday, July 2, 2009

My review of the Fall/Winter collection at Wolford continues. Yesterday was Part 2 where I discussed some of the styles I liked but weren't necessarily at the very top. Today's list could be considered 'Part 2a' as they fall into the same category. While I very much like the styles that are featured here, over the next couple of days I'll be discussing the ones that I am really after. If only I could have them all!

The Pauline Tights are a heavier opaque tight that is probably best left until the colder weather sets in. The tights come in a grayish black with a vertical pattern that unveils more and more detail, the closer one looks at it.

Alternately solid stripes are done with stripes that feature a circular pattern done all the way up and down the column. The pattern starts right at the waistband and continues all the way down through the toe. This continuity allows for the wearer to tailor these tights to almost any outfit and any occasion. As easily as these can be worn with a business suit, they can also be worn more casually with a shorter skirt and an opened toed shoe. In addition, the vertical pattern can help elongate the appearance of the leg, for those interested in doing so.

The Pauline Tights cost £27.00 ($45). They are 94% nylon and 6% elastane. As I said above, these are a heavier tight...they are 50 denier.

The Robina Tights revisit a favorite pattern of Wolford, and are, once again, a hit. Once again, the pattern is fishnet, and, as usual, Wolford does a masterful job of imposing a fishnet pattern over a sheer tight. This time, Wolford adds a reinforced shaping opaque panty. It is done in a short effect. It also adds a back seam, as well. All together, the tights create an almost boudoir look of vintage panty paired with fishnet back seamed stockings. Needless to say, I am a big big fan.

While the style of these are not as versatile as the Pauline Tights, these do have a great look. The combination of the fishnet and tight allow the wearer to incorporate this look into a variety of sexy outfits. The back seam just makes the tights that much more alluring as well.

These tights cost £34.00 ($56). They are 83% nylon and 17% elastane. They are 20 denier so they are quite a bit more sheer than the Pauline tights.

The Dania Tights are another ajouré tight done in a snakeskin pattern. There probably isn't much like this out there right now. It's quite a unique look and well done by Wolford. As with pretty much all of Wolford ajouré, it feels great on because it caresses the skin while it keeps the leg warm. Meanwhile the pattern is incredibly sexy, yet sophisticated enough that the wearer can incorporate it into more conservative looks as well.
The tights have a comfort waistband, as well as a solid heel and toe for extra added comfort. In addition the sole remains smooth as well, so there is no discomfort from walking on such a pattern all day long.

These tights cost £34.00 ($56). They are 57% viscose, 32% nylon, 10% silk and 1% elastane. The ajouré is a heavier style of tight, so these should remain wearable throughout the winter months. In addition, they should be quite durable and allow for plenty of wears.
