Abbey Lee Kershaw: i-D magazine Winter 2010 issue

The current edition of i-D features model Abbey Lee Kershaw in all manner of kooky-ness.

This winter 2010 'Back to The Future' issue is shot by the extraordinary David Bailey and styled by the supremely talented Charlotte Stockdale - she's styled Victoria's Secret parades and is the wife of industrial designer Marc Newson.

The magazine describes the shoot as "a relentless, apocalyptic vision of beauty."

Donning space-age gear, a half-body cast, cut-out bras, uggies, sporting a shaggy pile (oh, and a cream-coloured furry coat number), it's all pure Abbey Lee Kershaw-style.

i-D is a British magazine dedicated to fashion, music, art and youth culture and was founded by designer and former Vogue art director Terry Jones in 1980. The first issue was published in the form of a hand-stapled fanzine with text produced on a typewriter. Over the years the magazine evolved into a renowned glossy, keeping its street style.

Known for its innovative photography and typography, over the years it has established a reputation as a training ground for amazing talent: photographers Nick Knight, Chris Dowling, Wolfgang Tillmans, Juergen Teller, Terry Richardson, Ellen von Unwerth, and Kayt Jones have produced work for i-D.

The magazine pioneered the hybrid style of documentary/fashion photography called 'The Straight Up' - initially, these were of punks and New Wave youth found on English streets, simply asked to stand against any nearby blank wall.

Tipped on its side, the "i-D" typographic logo reveals a winking smiley. Most issues of i-D magazine have featured a winking cover model.
