(Spacey's brother Randy Fowler and his former sister-in-law Stephanie Mastini have left comments on this post - Fowler gives details of his memoirs-in-progress)

This is the front cover of the first biography of Kevin Spacey by Robin Tamblyn and click here to read a sample chapter.

My first impression of Looking Closer: Kevin Spacey - The First 50 Years is that it's a functional, competent, harmless, cuttings-fuelled homage: I'm certain many idiotic mainstream publishers will be wondering why they didn't get in there first. What are they afraid of? When I tried to flog the idea of a Spacey bio years ago all I ever heard was either "Oh he's litigious" or "Who's interested?" Who's he sued? And isn't Spacey worshipped by the fashionably godless?

Whether Spacey's brother Randy Fowler has contributed to this book I cannot say on a reading of the one chapter. But I'll know when I've read the book. Then I shall review it. Mercilessly.

In other news, Spacey's former sister-in-law Stephanie Mastini has written to Madame Arcati to say that Randy "collaborated" on the book (see comments). And I notice on Randy's website, he is now advertising his memoirs Too Flamboyant For Vegas!, to be released as an e-book at some unknown date and authored by his old literary sidekick Jack Ewing. Here's the cover (which contrasts favourably with the one above)...
