Luxury fabrics and embellished hand beaded evening dresses are the signature style of Australian based designer Rachel Gilbert, and the 2010 high summer 'cruise' collection is testament to that.
Modelled here by the too-stunning Samantha Harris, I adore that the collection encompasses everything from dramatic ballgown-style creations to chic cocktail dresses to relaxed pants and tops, all with the Rachel Gilbert touch. The range is available from October/November in boutiques Australia-wide and worldwide (including the Middle East, the UK, and Europe; see: www.rachelgilbert.com/Boutiques.aspx) as well as online (see: www.rachelgilbert.com/Boutiques.aspx?id=Online)
Previously based in New York as head designer for Nicky Hilton's fashion label, Rachel Gilbert has built her own eponymous line from scratch and has established quite a reputation for senstional pieces in the process, worn by plenty of industry luminaries including Delta Goodrem, Taylor Swift and the Hilton girls.
The Sydney-based girl has well and truly come out of the shadows and proven herself to be a worldwide success since re-launching the label in 2007 at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. On top of that, she is signed with leading PR agencies based in London and Sydney, all leading to the brand garnering some pretty impressive editorial from the global press.
Beginning her design education at the prestigious Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia, Rachel has learnt from the best in the industry, including tutelage from the Lisa Ho and Morrissey brands.
The perfectionist has a keen eye for business which has led to the rapid rise of the label so far and she was named one of Cleo magazine's 'designers of the year'. The only way is up for this talented woman.
