Mindfood - the magazine for 'smart thinking'
Wednesday, September 15, 2010
I am really liking relatively new New Zealand magazine Mindfood. Their covers are inviting and the content perfect for those wanting more than gossip from their glossy pages.
This month, savvy couple Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton - artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company - make for a beautiful cover. In their interview, they talk about their commitment to climate change and their work with the STC. Other smart reads include Nicole Kidman and her work with Unifem, women fighting for cancer prevention, and ethical fashion designer Stella McCartney.
I also love that the magazine is so accessible. From newsagents to your local Woolies. This mag is quite literally going places.
McHugh Media is a new integrated media company, privately owned by husband-and-wife team Michael and Michelle McHugh, and Mindfood is an integrated media brand with local and global content. The magazine and website feature television, podcasts, electronic newsletters, recipes, quotes, brain teasers, features, photographs and daily news.
Editorial centres on health, self, food, travel, community, environment, culture, news, fashion, beauty, style and technology, and can be accessed online and through the magazine, which is the publication's innovative angle.
Michael was the creator and founder of Notebook: magazine, and also launched Delicious. Mindfood's is considered the fastest-growing magazine in NZ, according to the NZ Audit Bureau of Circulation.
In addition, mindfood.com attracts more than 79,000 browsers each month, receives more than 325,000 page impressions and sends more than 78,000 newsletters every week. Very impressive.
