A Liquid Hue Review

Look, look we had a scuba, we drink some white wine, we talk about life, and we cannot help it.

Sorry. As much as I love the way these looked on the model, my first thought when I removed these from the package was "wet suit". My first impression was that I wasn't going to like these, they looked tight and restrictive.

Boy was I wrong. They slide on easy, need minimal adjustment, fit comfortably, and feel great. The Hue Black Liquid Leggings, which were the top choice of my 'One of Three' post a few weeks back, are a must buy for anyone who likes the liquid legging look. I'm am honestly in love with these. My legs look great in the shiny black material which actually does give of a liquid-like look. The material fits well and the leg comes down to just above my ankle (like it look in the picture). I'm really impressed by how soft they are. I was expecting them to feel heavy on my legs and somewhat constrictive. But they are neither. They're quite lightweight and feel less constrictive than the average pair of opaque tights. Finally, they show off the shape of my legs without looking like they're squeezing the life out of them. I must say I'm really impressed.

The tights are made from a polyester (93%) and spandex (7%) blend. They must be hand washed. They come in sizes small to extra large. They fit sizes 4-16 and I think they fit pretty true to size. I expected these to be tight so I went a size up to large...now I'm wishing I didn't. If you're less than a size 4, I'm thinking these might not be great for you, as any gathering of the material in the leg really shows, since these are so shiny.

These leggings cost $30. I like them enough that I'm thinking I may have to anti up the money and try the pricier Black Milk liquid leggings.

One of Three

After taking a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, One of Three is back! For those who are new or perhaps don't remember, I'm going to throw three different choices of lingerie/legwear out in this post. I ask the commenters to tell me which one is his/her favorite. Whichever gets the most love, I'll buy and review in an upcoming post.

This week I've decided to go with all things StockinGirl. StockinGirl is a great website as it serves as a sort of a warehouse for a few different manufacturers as well as some stuff that StockinGirl makes under their own label. As such, there's usually a great variety of styles and colors to choose from. Since I get email updates from them almost daily, quite a few things have caught my eye over recent weeks. I've been able to narrow it down to three, as always, the final choice is up to you. So please let me know.

Two weeks ago my 'One of Three' post involved dogstooth tights. Once again, it was amazingly close among all three choices, but the Levante Chevron Dogtooth Tights just barely eeked it out. Check back in a bit for a review of these once they come in.

On to this week:

Emma Colored Opaque Tights

Nothing too crazy about the Emma Colored Opaque Tights. No crazy patterns or fancy designs. What is great about these is that they're soft and warm, and they come in a HUGE variety of colors. Over the recent weeks, I've taken note of several different comments asking me about both warm opaque tights for the coming winter, as well as brightly colored tights to add a little color to an outfit. These tights do a great job of giving you both.

They're available in nine different colors including choices such as red wine, ballerina pink, and khaki, as well as more basic choices like black, espresso, and navy. If you pick these, feel free to choose a specific color, as well, and I'll try to get them in that specific color. In addition to the wide range of colors, these tights are less sheer than many of the ones I review here. If you're looking for a review on a warmer pair of tights, these would make a perfect choice.

The tights are a blend of 85% microfibre and 15% lycra. As mentioned above, they are opague, at 30 denier. In addition to the colors mentioned above, they also come in pecan, light tan, and steel. The tights come in four sizes ranging from small to extra large. They should fit anyone ranging in heights from 4'11" to 5'11" comfortably. These tights cost $17.99.

Clara Swiss Dotted Pantyhose

Lately, I've been on a bit of a dotted tights kick. I found the Clara Swiss Dotted Pantyhose on StockinGirl and immediately fell in love with them. These are made from 100% nylon, which is a bit rare for pantyhose these days.

These tights combine two of my legwear loves, dots and sheer pantyhose, I love how they can be both sexy and smart at the same time. Here in the photo they look great extending out from under a long coat. They'd be just as good under a black business suit or even a more casual skirt.

In addition to being 100% nylon, these pantyhose are very sheer. They are available in both light grey (pictured here) and dark grey. I don't really own many light gray tights, so I think I might like that color. It would be a perfectly unique addition to my tights collection. The Swiss Dotted Pantyhose come in 3 different sizes, fitting anyone from 4'11" to 6'1". These tights cost $21.99.

Ultra Sheer Colored Leggings

Again, I can't get over some of the bright colors I'm seeing on this website. That is what drew me to the Ultra Sheer Colored Leggings. Unlike the colored leggings I looked at earlier this week, these are very sheer and show quite a bit through.

As you can see from the picture, these look great, either worn with dresses or skirts. I'm just taken by how soft and delicate they look. They seem like they'd just feel great on the legs. They can come down to the wearer's ankle or be scrunched up higher on the leg.

These leggings are 100% nylon. They come in colors white, black, red, or hot pink. They're one size fits most. They cost $14.99.

So one things for certain...I'll be swiping my credit card for StockinGirl in the near future. But for what, exactly? Are bright colors and warm opaques the way to go? Or are the current fashion trend of the dotted pantyhose too good to pass up? Maybe the sheer leggings would make for a better purchase and review.

Falke Eve Hold Ups

A few weeks back my usual Thursday 'One of Three' post involved three different leg wear options from one of my favorites, Falke, when it comes to leg wear. To me, it was a no-lose situation. Whichever option the commenters picked, I was going to get to review yet another Falke item. I couldn't go wrong.

That said, I was taken by how gorgeous the Falke Eve Hold Ups were when I came across them, and I was even more glad that they were the ones chosen by the commenters. Even as Falke hold ups go, these were stunning. I couldn't wait to order them and give them a try.

The verdict? I couldn't be happier. These completely met my every expectations. First off, they are absolutely gorgeous. The stockings have a matte finish in white, which is made from a sheer lace pattern. These are more like a really really really tight fishnet than they are sheer nylon stockings. On top of the stocking, is a gorgeous pattern of opaque leaves and flowers, that encircle thin white pinstripes as they descend down the leg. You really can't take your eyes off this pattern.

Even better, they feel great.

The hold ups are made from a blend of 93% polyamide and 7% elastane, except for the hold up band, which is an 83/17 blend of the same fabrics. The stockings have a 20 denier sheerness. They come in small, medium, and large and should comfortably fit heights anywhere from 4'9" to 5'11". They are available in ivory, amethyst, and black. I chose ivory because I thought it would make the pattern show up better. The hold ups cost (about $36.60).

All Laced Up

A few weeks back, the theme of the 'One of Three' post was stay ups. Of the three options, the winner was the Fern Lace Stay-Up Thigh Highs. While I'm typically much more of a tights person, there's no denying the sexiness of stay ups. When done right, the sheer or fishnet look, coupled with a lacy top, pair with the perfect panties is the pinnacle of sexy. When you start with these stay-ups, you're already well on you way to sexy.

Start with the texture. These are done in a open knit look that is done in a fan pattern. The pattern alternates in an up and down fashion as they circle the leg. These are then topped off by a wide band that include two different types of lace patterns, as well as two different colors (black and gray). Compared to the common fishnet stay ups, these are showstoppers.

These stay-ups have a very generous stretch to them, and the net pattern keeps well no matter what shape the legs need to conform too. The stay up band initially seemed like it was going to be too tight, with the silicone too uncomfortable, but in a matter of minutes, I forgot that I was even wearing stay-ups. Turns out the band couldn't be more comfortable. The two-patterned lace top looks great, and the lacey patterned legs continue down to just the smallest of reinforced toes. You will love these sexy stay-ups.

The stay-ups are a blend of 95% nylon and 5% spandex. They are 20 inches from the toe to the bottom of the stay-up band. They're available in both black and flannel. They're made in Italy. They cost $20.

One of Three

One style of leg wear that has been surfacing quite a bit lately, is the dog tooth tights. Dog tooth is certainly not a new pattern, as it's been the fashion of choice is Tuscaloosa since the mid 1950s. But even The Bear, himself, never wore it as good as the following three options of tights (at least that any of us know of ;-)). But which is the best? As always, I'm hoping you all can help me choose. Whichever of these three gets the most love in the comments section will be bought and reviewed by me in an upcoming post. As always, I can't wait to hear all of your comments.

Levante Chevron Dogtooth Tights

The pattern on these is a bit more understated, as it is done in a gray on gray. That said, the Levante Chevron Dogtooth Tights are quite nice looking, very versatile, and look warm and comfortable. With the temperature outside due to drop like a rock any day now, I think I'm liking these even better.

They are an opaque tights and the smart looking pattern allows them to be worn in a business setting as well as with a more casual skirt and sweater look. The tone of them, as well as the Levante quality, will allow these tights to be worn over and over as it's unlikely the wearer would get sick of them or the pattern would grow old.

These tights are made from a blend of 88% nylon, 10% lycra, and 2% cotton. I don't have a denier count available, but it seems as though it would be in the 40 (or perhaps higher range). They are made in Italy and available in gray only. They come in medium, tall, and extra tall allowing them to be worn by people with heights up to 6-foot-1. These are also pretty reasonably priced, as they will only set you back £8.65.

Jonathan Aston Dog Tooth Coloured Tights

If the Levante's were understated and conservative, the Jonathan Aston Dog Tooth Coloured Tights are anything but. Certainly Aston decided to go in the exact opposite direction, wanting these tights to help the wearer stand out and get noticed. They're pictured here in 'Ochre', but they are also available in velvet-purple, peacock, and jewel pink.

Similar to the Levante's, these are a more opaque tight and the bright colors help make them perfect for the winter months both by adding plenty of color and by keeping the wearer warm while bearing one's legs. Jonathan Aston is always a leader when it comes to bright colorful patterns, and unique styles, and these tights are no exception. While many of the other dog tooth tights I saw while looking around were done in blacks and grays, these couldn't be more different.

The tights are made from a blend of 93% nylon and 7% elastane. They are warm and opaque at 40 denier. They come in the 4 colors listed above in two different sizes. Once again, they're a pretty reasonable price and good value at £7.90.

Pamela Mann Dogtooth Tights

I've been turned on to Pamela Mann tights a bit more recently than the Jonathan Aston's, but I'm ever bit as happy to have found them. Similar to the options above, Pamela Mann tights are always a great quality at a good value, allowing you to think you wearing tights that were much more expensive than they really were.

The Pamela Mann Dogtooth Tights are available in two different options. If you want colorful like the Aston's, you can get them in a purple and black combination. If you want a more traditional look, you can go for the more basic black and white. Either way the thing that stands out about the Pamela Mann tights, is that the dog tooth pattern is much bigger on these than either of the other options. It depends upon personal preference, but the big pattern really works on these tights, in my opinion.

These tights are 100% nylon. They appear quite opaque, but I can't seem to find a denier count anywhere. They are one size and available in the 2 colors listed above. They cost £10.00, so they are only slightly more expensive than the two styles above.

Despite the fact that we're going with one pattern here, there are three quite different looks here. It's all a question of how distinct or subtle you like this pattern. It all depends on how colorful you like your warm winter tights to be. So which will it be? I'm looking forward to hearing what you think.

Fatale Attraction

A few weeks back, my 'One of Three' post was all about San Francisco's Dollhouse Bettie. I posted three unique pieces of lingerie from the dollhouse, and the Blush Femme Fatale Pinstripe Garter Pantie, was the eventual winner. Knowing what I know about Dollhouse Bettie, I'm positive that I would've been happy reviewing any of the three pieces. As it is, I couldn't be more happy to be reviewing the Garter Pantie.

Where to even begin? I'm pretty sure that this is one of the more comfortable well-fitting panties you could ever find. The pantie is a combination of nylon and elastic, so it has a similar feel to a quality pair of tights. Just like tights they are incredibly soft and smooth, as well as body-conforming.

The pantie is a brief-style but does not rise super high on the waist. It ends up sitting just above the hips. It is a gray color with a soft, small elastic waistband. Red pinstripes descend down the garment all the way around, except for the middle panel, where the stripes are horizontal. On either side of the horizontal panel is a pretty gray ruffle that is done in an ultra soft mesh. Finally, there are four adjustable garter straps that are connected to the pantie.

I wore the pantie with vintage black stockings. Because the stockings were 100% nylon they did not have much stretch, but the garter straps are adjustable and had more than enough extension to connect to the stockings and then adjust back to a comfortable spot. The connectors on the garter straps are hidden by gray ribbons. Looks-wise, it is very nice, but they can get in the way a bit when attempting to connect the stockings, particularly in the back. Other than that very small issue, I have no complaints whatsoever.

The garter straps can also be removed very easily allowing the garment to be worn just as a pantie. If done so, the pantie fits just like a regular brief and still looks quite nice. It's a good option, but stockings go so well with this pantie it almost doesn't seem right to wear it that way.

The fabric content breaks down as 80% nylon and 20% elastane. Again, I can't stress enough how soft smooth and comfortable this is. It's available in small, medium, and large. It costs $29.25. As with anything I ever tried from Dollhouse Bettie, it is of very good quality. If taken care of, it will last a long time. Hand washing and air drying is an absolute must. It's a versatile piece so it's well worth the money, in my opinion. It also has a matching bra so it makes a very nice set when paired with the perfect stockings.

One of Three

This week's edition of 'One of Three' is all about leggings. Leggings have been everywhere for quite a while now. Despite this, I've posted very little about them here. Not only do they deserve their own post, but they deserve some, if not many, reviews. So, to get the ball rolling, I'm going to throw it out to commenters as to which one gets a review first. I've looked through quite a few styles and have seen many things that I'm in love with, so, this will probably not be the last leggings post. But for this one, I have managed to narrow it down to three. Whichever one gets the most love below will get its own review in the near future.

Wolford Velvet de Luxe Leggings

You didn't think I'd leave Wolford off the list of a leg wear post, did you? While that's never very likely, I do have to admit that, up to now, I have not tried leggings by Wolford. Will these be my first?

If they are, I'm sure I'll be happy. These are the Velvet de Luxe Leggings. Without knowing anything about them, they just sound divine, don't they? These leggings have a soft matte finish and can be worn throughout the fall in a variety of different looks. They're also quite comfortable and easy to move in...so I'm told.

These come in a wide variety of 10 different colors. Should I go for the 'hibiscus' or the 'electric royal' color? Sorry, but I'd probably just go with the black...I'm kind of boring that way. They're made form 94% nylon and 6% elastane. They come in 4 different sizes and cost £18.00 (about $30 USD).

Hue Black Liquid Leggings

While we're on the subject of items I'm drooling over but have yet to purchase, how about some liquid leggings? I am pretty much in love with the liquid leg wear look, but can't really say for sure how it looks on me because I have yet to buy anything. Is now the time?

Hue is always one of my favorite value brands of leg wear. Whenever I buy Hue I'm always reminded why I like this brand so much. Hue always seems to deliver above and beyond their price point. So why not combine my love of all things Hue and my intrigue over liquid leggings and go for the Hue Black Liquid Leggings? I certainly wouldn't mind doing just that, at all.

The black shiny fabric that makes up the wet look is from a polyester/spandex blend. Once again, these leggings can go with a variety of different looks. They come in small, medium, and large in black only. They cost $30.

Aqua Mesh Leggings

On the opposite end of the sheerness scale from the liquid leggings are the mesh leggings. These are about as see-through as you can get. And while they may be the very opposite of the Hue leggings, I am dying for the Aqua Mesh Leggings every bit as much.

Can you blame me? These have the look of a very sheer pair of tights, save for the missing feet and the seams down the inside of the leg. The only other non-sheer thing about these is the elastic waistband.

These are made from a nylon/spandex blend. They come in sizes extra small, small, medium, and large. They are available in black only. As an added bonus, they are currently on sale for only $26.60.

So I hope my leggings love has you convinced. Also, these are three very different pairs, so I'm definitely interested in hearing what everyone has to say. I'm not sure I could ever decide on one, so I'm hoping you can! Looking forward to hearing which one is best!

Flower Tatoo Fishnets...and Giveaway Winner!

A few weeks ago, the Free People Flower Tattoo Fishnets were among the two selected for that week's post, and I've finally gotten a chance to check them out. First, the tights themselves. I've purchased one-size-fits-all fishnets in the past and, for the most part, they've been pretty miserable. Anyone who's worn fishnets probably knows that too much or not enough stretch and the tights look bad. Happily, these are an exception. They comfortably fit my taller legs with plenty of room to spare. They're extremely comfortable, and the fishnet pattern looks extremely good on. For my first attempt at Free People tights, I have to say I like what I see.

As for the tattoo... It's done in felt appliqué. My first impression was that I wasn't going to like the way it looked or felt. The felt is kind of raised up from the fishnets, and I thought it would look bad and/or feel uncomfortable. I also didn't think the black on black would show up well. Turned out to be just the opposite. From any sort of distance, this actually looks pretty convincing...or tattoo-like. You also don't feel a thing as far as comfort. The only thing I'm keeping an eye on is how well the appliqué stays attached. It's $14, so I'm not going to sweat it to badly, but I would like to see it withstand a couple of washes.


But all-in-all I very much like what I see. This is a great alternative to the every day fishnet when you're looking for a little something extra.

These tights are 88% nylon and 12% spandex. They come in black only. Of course, they need to be hand washed. Definitely check them out, if you get the chance.

One of Three...and a Giveaway!

I've decided that it's time for a long overdue giveaway. Since I've gotten so many great comments lately on the stuff I've profiled I'd like to give away one winner a free pair of Falke leg wear. How can you win it? Read on.

This week we're back to leg wear as I've noticed that I've been neglecting Falke, one of my favorite brands. During the time since my last Falke purchase, they've introduced a whole slew of new stuff, which isn't really all that surprising as no one turns their styles over as quickly as Falke, when it comes to leg wear. I've poured over all of Falke's new stuff and narrowed it down to three possibilities. In order to come up with three very distinct choices, I've decided to go with one pair of tights, thigh highs, and leggings. Now, as always, I'm turning it over to you. Falke Maxime Tights

They're Falke and they're tights, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to love them.

Falke often goes sheer throughout with most of their tights. With the Maxime Tights, however, there's a boxer brief at the top. On the model it appears to come almost down to the mid-thigh. From there a very pretty wide diamond shape takes over. The website is a bit sketchy on the details, but it appears the pattern continues down to near the toe. There is a reinforced toe at the very bottom. There's also a small circle where each of the diamonds connect which adds just a bit to this look. Finally, the circles are repeated again around the waistband. It's supposed to be a unique take on argyle, and I think its very well done.

The tights come in two sizes, Small/Medium and Medium/Large. The only color option is black. The tights are 91% polyamide, 7% elastane, and 2% cotton. Typically, that type of polyamide (or nylon) count means a pretty sheer and pretty delicate tight. They cost £20.00 (about $32 USD).

Falke Eve Hold Ups

Looking at these stunning hold ups make me wonder why I didn't include them in the hold ups post a while back. The Falke Eve Hold Ups is feminine floral lace at its absolute very best. Pictured here, in ivory, the stay ups have an opaque pattern of leaves and flowers descending down the leg against a sheer background. Behind the pattern, almost too subtle to be seen in the picture, are opaque pinstripes that descend down the leg, beneath the pattern.

At the top the band seems to have a pinstripe design as well, but no lace embellishment. These are a very pretty and feminine take on a leg wear piece that most often is sexy and inviting, creating almost the perfect combination. These are among the prettiest hold ups, I've come across recently.

They are also available in black and amethyst. In either case, the floral pattern is the same color as the sheer leg, just not as sheer. I haven't seen the other two colors pictured, but it's hard to believe they could be any better than the ivory.

These hold ups are 80% polyamide, 11% polyester, and 9% elastane. They come in sizes 1-3 in the three colors mentioned above. They cost £22.00 ($36).

Falke Cotton Touch Footless Leggings

With the cold weather steadily approaching, it's probably time I start reviewing some leggings. Given how in love I am with falke tights and stockings, I have to imagine I'd love their leggings. The Cotton Touch Footless Leggings seem like a good place to start as they are your basic legging with a blend of cotton.

They're 60 denier, so they should have some level of transparency to them, though they should still be thick and comfy. They are intended to fit right down at the ankle, so they'd be perfect for boots of any height, which is always key. Finally, if they have the comfort and softness of the Falke tights, I may never want to wear anything else!

The leggings are a blend of 50% polyamide, 43% cotton, and 7% elastane. They come in 4 different sizes (small through extra large) and four different colors (amethyst, cigar, opal, and sapphire...or for those of us who don't come up with fancy names for our colors: brown, black, green, and maroon....ish). These leggings cost £13.00 (about $21 USD).

So, once again, we're looking at three great pieces from one great designer. It's all a matter of which you like best and what you'd like to hear more about.

A Rosy Review

A few weeks back on my usual 'One of Three' Thursday post, I threw three different pairs of tights up on the post and asked readers to pick one for review. Instead, as it turns out, I will be reviewing two as support was split down the middle for 2 of the 3 tights. In the next day or two, you can expect a review for the Flower Tattoo Fishnets from Free People. But today, the review will be for the Full Bloom Tights from Anthropologie.

The tights are actually made for Antrhopologie by Eloise. As far as I can recall, this is my first pair of Eloise tights, so I was anxious to give them a try.

The first thing I noticed was that they seemed very long. I thought they were either going to be huge on me, or not have much stretch. I noticed the fabric breakdown (88% nylon and 12% spandex) was pretty similar to most Wolford tights, which always have very good stretch, so I thought for sure they were going to be huge.

Strangely they weren't. These tights have stretch where they need it, but aren't really made to stretch all that much. What that seems to mean is that the pattern doesn't really stretch much, meaning even if your leg doesn't look like the mannequin leg here, the pattern on the tights will. I stopped to take a quick look at the couple of reviews on the website, and they seemed to confirm this. They all raved about the fit. It's true, too, with just minimal adjustment when you put these on, the pattern will look great on your legs and the fit from the tights couldn't be more comfortable. Furthermore, if you're a bit shorter, you can buy the smaller size and get a good fit out of that. I am by no means a giant, but the m/l fit me well and probably could have fit someone much taller than me.

There's no denier count listed on these tights, but if I had to guess, I'd go with around 20. Where there is no floral pattern, the tights are sheer but not super sheer. The pattern goes right down to the tip of the toe, and extends up to pretty much to top of the thigh. There is a panty top to these tights that's shaped like a boy short. It wont really extend down your leg at all, so I'm thinking these would be fine with pretty much any length of skirt imaginable.

All in all, I think this is a great buy. I noticed that Antropologie has many Eloise tights there in a variety of patterns and sheerness. It's probably worth it to check out more of these. At a price of $18, I'd say these compare very favorably to much more expensive brands like Falke and Wolford.

One of Three

This week, I'm all about the dollhouse. Dollhouse Bettie, that is. For those who might not know, Dollhouse Bettie is an outfit in San Francisco's famed Haight Ashbury area that specializes in pinup and vintage style lingerie. Being a New Englander, I've never actually set foot into their store (sadly, I knew nothing about them when I went to San Fran a few years back), but their website is a sight to behold. It is stocked full on any kind of lingerie you can imagine, much of it inspired by the styles of the early part of last century. I made three selections from their wide variety of throwback goodness. Now...which to choose?

Blush Femme Fatale Pinstripe Garter Pantie

Admittedly, it took me a while before I ever tried a garter panty. I always figured I'd prefer the versatility of keeping the two pieces separate. But I've been more than pleasantly surprised by the ones I've tried. The Femme Fatale Pinstripe Garter Pantie might be the sexiest I've ever seen of an inherently sexy undergarment. Unlike some garter panties that are meant to be worn strictly in the bedroom, this piece is built for day long wear. It is high waisted and made from a blend of nylon and elastane allowing for optimum fit and maximum comfort. Despite this, no sexiness was sacrificed, in my opinion. It has a sleek gray look with burgundy pinstripes. A center patch is sewn in with horizontal stripes and is aligned on either side by pretty ruffles.

It has an elastic waistband and cotton gusset. The garters are also detachable, but, this piece screams for a sexy pair of stockings, does it not? The garter pantie is available in small, medium, and large. It costs $29.25.

Julia Sleek Sapphire Blue Satin Garter Bustier

Quite honestly I was looking at posting the matching panty originally. It was the blue color and satin finish that caught my eye. But when the page with the panty linked me to this bustier, I was stunned. Is this not a beautiful piece of lingerie?

The Julia Sleek Sapphire Blue Satin Garter Bustier has padded cups with inserts that are edged with ruffles. The cups meet together in the middle with a bow. Boning descends down the garment on both the front and the back. It comes to a scoop bottom with a ruffled hem. There are four removable satin garter straps which have a bow on them. The satin straps are adjustable and the piece closes in the back with 14 hook and eye closures.

The bustier is made from polyester micro satin and spandex. It comes in a wide variety of sizes based upon bra size. It costs $56.25.

Mary Green Nouveau Retro White Silk Teddy

This is a really unique piece of lingerie. It is a combination cami and knicker that is made into a one piece. Once again, I have fallen victim to something shiny. In this case the radiance of this piece as well as the promise of silk has me wondering just how good this feels on.

The Mary Green Nouveau Retro White Silk Teddy is made of a stretch silk material that offers comfort in addition to great feel. In addition to the white silk, it also has a generous amount of gorgeous lace detail. The cups are almost completely covered by a wide band of pink lace. At the bottom of the garment, the pattern repeats around the two leg openings. It also has adjustable shoulder straps at the top. It also has a snap closure in the gusset.

Aside from the trim, the teddy is silk and lycra. It is available in small, medium, and large. In addition to the white, that is pictured here, it is also available in a blush and black color. It costs $68.75.

So this time around we have three very different pieces from one outstanding retailer. As you can probably see from the pictures, they are all extremely sexy. The question to you is: which one is best? It's all a matter of what type of lingerie you like best. I know I could never pick from among these three.

Brief Moment of Sheer Joy

A few weeks back I decided that I was going to buy and review a brief style panty. I picked out three different styles. Two of the styles were a transparent meshy tulle type, while the third was a satin brief with lacy detail. Of the two tulle briefs, one was plain black while the other was a lilac color with lots of detail.

I threw the three options out on the blog and let the commenters decide which was best. Overwhelmingly, commenters seemed to prefer the Miss Showgirl High Waisted Brief, by Playful Promises. The recurring sentiment seemed to be a genuine like for the high waisted style. That was great news for me, because I too have always been a big fan.

As pretty as this panty looks on the La Magia website, it is just as much so in person. In fact, the detail stands out even more. My first observation was how soft the brief was. Tulle can go one of two ways, as far as I'm concerned. If it is of good quality, it is soft and somewhat stretchy and conforms to the wearer. If it is of poorer quality, it is stiffer and scratchier, sitting uncomfortably and looking unflattering. Fortunately this brief is very much the former. The tulle feels so soft if you run it through your fingers. When wearing this brief, it feels extremely soft and comfortable. One of the problems with high waisted briefs is that they can sit uncomfortably and constrict the wearer. These are the exact opposite, you may even forget that you are wearing anything at all underneath.

This brief also is gorgeously designed. It has plenty of little details, such as four columns of lace running down the front of the brief, two ending in bright pink buttons in miniature keyhole detail. The back of the panty is free of detail and gorgeously sheer. The details add to the brief but the main feature is just the amount of coverage and the fact that it is done in pretty lilac tulle. This brief is the perfect balance between sexiness (the transparent style leaves very little to the imagination) and class (the high waisted style lends itself to classic vintage time, where this type of style was more commonplace). This brief is a must for an occasion that calls for a little something more than everyday attire.

The brief comes in small, medium, and large. It has enough stretch to fit comfortably but also, as stated above, conforms to the wearers body shape. It is available in this lilac color only, which is just fine, it only adds to the overall prettiness and femininity of this piece. Finally, it cost £13 (about $21). You could easily spend a lot more for a lot less. I think this is an excellent buy.

One of Three

The pick of the week is hold ups...or stay ups...or thigh highs, whichever you wish to call them. They're always good for adding an extra amount of sexiness to leg wear and can always be convenient for situations where a garter belt can't be done. I don't know, maybe it's because we're mere days away from Halloween, but right now there are plenty of great styles and looks out there. It often seems stay ups and Halloween can go hand and hand as they can be so easy to incorporate in many costumes.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments last week. By my calculations.....we have a tie ( a tie? what is this, youth soccer?). Yes, a tie! It was pretty much dead even between the Anthropologie Full Bloom Tights and the Free People Flower Tattoo Fishnets. What do I do now? I guess I review both of them.

On to this week:

Cervin Divine Signature Lace Top Hold-Ups

To begin with, well, they're Cervin. The Divine Signature Lace Top Hold-Ups are your pretty basic sheer black hold ups. They do have a reinforced heel and toe. They also have a very pretty black lace top. As lace tops go, it is quite elegant and detailed, making otherwise typical hold ups actually quite eye-catching. It looks to be several inches thick, though I wasn't able to find an exact measurement.

Just beneath the lace top, in a light blue is the Cervin logo, which is a signature of all their stockings and hold ups. Cervin always delivers on quality, and these certainly seem to be no exception. The picture helps show how sheer and smooth these are.

The hold ups are made in France. They're 92% nylon and 8% lycra. These are quite sheer as they have a 15 denier count. They come in a huge range of sizes, from small all the way to XXXL, allowing someone as tall as 6'2" to fit into these comfortably. The 6 different sizes also allow for optimum fit for all regardless of shape and size. They cost £13.00 ($21 USD).

Hot Sox Fern Lace Stay-Up Thigh Highs

These come with a big assist from blogger-friend Stockings Addict, who posted about these yesterday. I absolutely love the detail on these stockings. They are quite gorgeous. The Fern Lace Stay-Ups look equal parts alluring and delicate. The lacy detail creates an almost vintage look while remaining completely stylish.

The entire leg of these is done in a lacey net design that is very eye-catching. At the top of the stay up is a detailed embroidered lacy cup that is done in two colors. The design also changes to distinguish the cuff from the stocking, creating an excellent look.

The stay ups are 95% nylon and 5% spandex. They are also designed to fit a longer leg, which is an added bonus in this situation. These apparently come in one size only. But they are available in black or 'flannel' colors, with the flannel appearing to be a bit more on the gray side. They are made in Italy. These cost $20.

Wolford Sixty Six Stay Ups

Where would I be without a Wolford option? Shame on me because somehow I've managed to not include my favorite leg wear designer yet in a 'One of Three'. That ends now as I'm including the Sixty Six Stay Ups this week.

I'm not sure the reason why Wolford came up with this particular name for these stay ups. When I think of 'sixty six' though, I think of the famous east/west highway across the US. This highway leads right into Las Vegas, which is perfect, because this style screams "Las Vegas" to me. There is certainly something showgirl-like about the open mesh fishnet style of these stay ups. These stay ups manage to be sexy in an understated way as, despite being fishnets, they have a smooth lace-less narrow band at that top. But in this case, less is certainly more.

The Sixty Sixes are 51% nylon and 49% elastane. They're available in small, medium, and large and come in honey (sort of a deep beige) and black. They cost £21.00 ($35 USD).

So which will it be? Basic and classic or detailed and festive? The top name in stockings or the premier name in all of leg wear? French sexiness, Italian passion, or Austrian precision? That is up to you to decide. I love hearing all of the opinions and, as always, I can't wait to hear what you decide.

Finally, a Review

Way waaaay back at the beginning of this month, I was looking to purchase a new pair of tights and was considering three different options. I blogged about all three, but ultimately decided upon one pair. That one ended up being the Capriccio Tights by Trasparenze. The promise was that I would come back and review them, so here I am.

I was in love with the design and detail of these when I first saw them online, and was just as much so when they finally arrived. The black detail on top of the sheer beige tights instantly reminded me of a review I did a while back for a pair of Falke tights. In the case of the Falke tights, it was a knee high sock effect done on a pair of tights. In the case of the Capriccio Tights, it is a panty effect...and a garter effect...and a lace top, back seamed stocking effect. All of this was to take a regular pair of tights and create a vintage effect on top of them. It was really well done. These tights are very pretty to look at and look and feel great on. It creates sort of a fun, unique look on what could have otherwise just been a regular pair of tights.

There is certainly a question of how functional these could really be, though. It all depends on how much...or how little...detail the wearer wants to show off. A skirt of just about any length would cover the lace panty effect, which is done with a floral pattern on top of a dot pattern. But there is also the illusion of four thin garter strap and lace top stockings to consider. Those are also very high up on the thigh and are easily covered (or hard to show off?). The back seam covers most of the leg but starts and ends with a bow, just below the panty and just above the ankle. Below the back seam and bow is nothing but sheer nylon, through toe.

The wearer can choose for oneself how daring or how reserved to be. These certainly aren't meant for the office or formal occasions, but could work well for social events typical for this time of year. It all adds to the attraction, and the fun, of these tights. Most importantly, they're comfortable and durable, and should last a lot longer than other cheaper printed tights.

The tights are 85% nylon and 15% elastane. They are 20 denier. They are available in sizes 2-4 (similar to S,M, and L). The tights have a matte finish, a cotton gusset, and an invisibly reinforced toe. They cost £13.95 (about $23 USD).

One of Three

I guess I'm calling this week's installment 'One of Three...The Immediate Gratification Edition'. I say this because the idea behind 'One of Three' was to let commenter's pick the item, and then review it. So what's missing? Yeah, you guessed it: reviews. This is because I'm still waiting for things to arrive in the mail. So, instead of placing another order this week, I'm gonna walk to couple of blocks over to the Back Bay and buy one of these three pairs of tights. That way, I can finally get a review up here.

At any rate, thanks to all who commented last week. It seemed a pretty overwhelming majority liked the Miss Showgirl High Waisted Brief, by Playful Promises. So that one is...er...in the mail. On to this week:

bebe Stitched Fishnet Tights

In some ways, the name probably says it all. bebe is never short on sexy, and they currently have several different styles of fishnet tights to choose from. I chose the Stitched Fishnet Tights to display here. I liked this style because, in addition to the regular fishnet pattern, it had a diamond shaped pattern that continued down the length of both legs.

The tights have a reinforced toe and are otherwise sheer to the panty. The diamond pattern also starts at the toe and continues to the panty. I'm always liking fishnets, but the diamond pattern adds even a little more sexiness to the normal fishnet look.

The tights come in black only. They come in two sizes, either a petite/small or a medium large. They are a blend of nylon and spandex, but the specific breakdown was not readily available on the website. These tights cost $12.

Anthropologie Full Bloom Tights

On a recent stop into an Anthropologie store, I was taken by the amount of tights they were offering. They had quite a collection going that involved lots of different styles, colors, and patterns. While they certainly seem to draw their inspiration for their clothing style from a different place than bebe, much of what they do is really well done, tights certainly included.

I actually had a difficult time picking a specific style out of their vast collection, but finally settled on the Full Bloom Tights, by Eloise. I liked that they were patterned tights, but they still had a good amount of sheerness to them. On top of sheer black tights is a flower & leaf pattern that is spotted throughout on both legs. These tights are pretty and feminine, but also functional for a variety of different situations. The pattern is infused nicely without going over the top.

These tights are also black only. They come in either small/medium or medium/large. Again, it's nylon and spandex without a specific breakdown available. These tights cost $18.

Free People Flower Tattoo Fishnets

There must be an emphasis on tights this season at the Urban Outfitters family, because all of their stores are rolling them out in bunches. Once again there was a number of different styles I could have gone with, but I kept coming back to the Flower Tattoo Fishnets. I guess if the first option is fishnets and the second is flowers...why not combine them with the third option? In addition, the tattoo tights are gaining steadily in popularity, and I've yet to own a pair. These would certainly do.

Once again, these are your basic fishnet tights. On the back of each leg, down by the ankle is a flower design. It is supposed to create the appearance of a tattoo on the leg, covered by the fishnets. I think they certainly look good in the picture. Together, the flower with the fishnet do a great job in combining feminine and sexy. These tights seem really well done.

These tights come in black only and are the dreaded one size. They are a blend of 88% nylon and 12% spandex. They cost $14.

I really feel like I can't go wrong with any of the three. I like them all. Which one to choose? Well, as always, that is up to you. I always love hearing all of your opinions and I'm looking forward to seeing which one everyone likes the best.

One of Three

First a quick update. I ran a similar post last week involving tights, and I thank everyone who chimed in on my three selections. Ultimately, I settled upon the Trasparenze Capriccio Tights. As soon as they arrive and I get a chance to wear them I will give them a review for all.

In the meantime, this week I am looking at panties. I want something brief-like that is also classic, sexy, and has plenty of sheerness. Once again I have narrowed it down to three possibilities and, once again, I humbly seek reader advice as to which of these I should buy.

Playful Promises Miss Showgirl High Waisted Brief

I have not purchased anything from Playful Promises before, but one look at the Miss Showgirl High Waisted Brief has me thinking that this may be about to change. I stumbled upon these recently while browsing La Magia looking for new styles and stopped dead in my tracks. This showgirl is a showstopper.

There is quite a bit to like about these. They possess many of the attributes of the vintage pin up girl panty that I am always a huge fan of. They have a high rise that ascends to just below the navel. Despite the coverage, they are made from a sheer material that leaves little to the imagination. Finally, they have four vertical columns of stitching, two in the front that end with pink buttons in a keyhole detail.

The panty is a lilac color which makes them even that more unique as this style is most often done in black. The stitching and the buttons are both florescent pink, while the keyhole detail is outlined in lilac satin. Are these panties not completely gorgeous? They are available in small, medium, and large and cost £13 ($21).

Kiss Me Deadly Alouette Brief

I have had the opportunity to buy a few different items from Kiss Me Deadly, and they are all among my favorites. Kiss Me Deadly, who often draw inspiration from classic literature, claims that the theme behind the Alouette line is a Hans Christian Anderson story that's "full of female characters and great quotes". I must confess, I last read Hans Christian Anderson about 15 years ago in high school, but I can find no fault with the finished product, born from the Anderson image.

While also briefs, the Alouette has less coverage than the Miss Showgirl. It sits lower in the front, while still providing a good deal of coverage in the back. It is done in rose laden black lace. It also has a large pink bow in the back. As you can probably see from the picture it is very sheer, save for a lace overlay across the front. It is described by KMD as the most glamorous basic you should own. Who am I to argue?

It is part of a set that also includes a plunge bra and waist cincher with six removable straps. Of course the set wouldn't be complete without a pair of stockings, which KMD can provide as well. The briefs come in small through extra large and cost £16.25 ($26).

Mary Green Nouveau Retro Blush Silk Pantie

When it comes to classic retro lingerie, few do it better than Dollhouse Bettie. That would most certainly include the Mary Green Nouveau Retro Silk Pantie, pictured here in Blush color. Mary Green is a San Francisco designer who sells much of her product through San Francisco-based Dollhouse Bettie. Judging by the silk pantie, I'm going to really like Mary Green.

This is a high waist panty done in a 'retro full cut'. It's done in luxury stretch silk charmeuse. The website boasts that they are one of the most comfortable "to show up on the scene". The silk material tells me that they're going to feel great. They are further embellished with stretch lace inserts that descend down either side of the front of the panty.

Exclusive of trim they are made entirely from silk and lycra. They are available in small, medium, and large and can fit up to a 42 inch hip. Finally, they cost $31.25.

As you can probably tell, I am madly in love with all three of these styles. Which to choose? Well, that is up to you. As always, I am looking forward to hearing any and all opinions on these.

One of Three

To the surprise of nobody, I'm sure, I'm getting the itch to do a little bit of shopping. Since the last time I had a chance to scour all of my favorite websites, many new styles have hit the market. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's a good thing because I'm seeing many things that I like. It's a bad thing because....I'm seeing many things that I like.

So, as I often do, I am seeking the help of my readers, or anyone else who may stumble across my blog. I'm throwing three different styles of tights out here, and I'm hoping I can get some help as to which one to purchase. If things go the way I'm hoping, I'll buy whichever one the commenters seem to like the best and I'll write a review as soon as I read it. Hopefully everyone gets a chance to tell me which they like best and maybe even why. Thanks, in advance, to all who participate.

Jonathan Aston Tartan Tights

Whenever I see tights from Jonathan Aston, I always wonder why I don't buy this brand more often. The few things I own, I love. Their styles are also always interesting an unique. The Tartan Tights definitely fit this description. They have a plaid design that is very colorful. They are certainly unlike anything I currently own.

They are 100% nylon and 40 denier. They have a matte finish and are sheer throughout, including the toe. They also have no gusset. They are one size, which sometimes worries me, as I've been a bit too tall for some of the one size tights that I've bought. But I like these enough that I'm willing to take a chance. They cost £8.00.

Henry Holland House Mock Stocking Tights

Anyone who has seen the many reviews I've done for Wolford tights knows that I like the mock stay up effect. That being the case, it would stand to reason that I'll also be a fan of the mock garter and stocking effect, should I give these tights a try.

They are sheer tights, that have the effect of a brief, garter strap, and stockings all done over the tights. I actually think these are pretty creative and like the style quite a bit. The brief is a v-line and stockings come above the mid thigh and even give the impression of a pull where they 'connect' with the suspenders. These also have a cotton gusset and a reinforced toe.

They are listed as 40 denier, I assume that's where the effects are as the 'exposed' part of the leg seems quite sheerer. They have a matte finish and are 92% nylon, 7% elastane, and 1% cotton. They are available in black, blue, pink, and purple. Feel free to let me know which color is your favorite. These tights cost £10.00.

Trasparenze Capriccio Tights

These tights from Trasparenze are done with a vintage look in mind. As with seemingly all Trasparenze tights, there is a lot going on with them. They have a sheer brief effect that is done on top of the tights. There is a thick black waistband and, just beneath, a lacy floral panty effect is done. Just below the panty, a back seem starts with a bow, descends down the leg, and then ends with another bow, just above the ankle.

The tights are 20 denier, have a sheer toe, and have a matte finish. They have a fabric content that is made up of 85% nylon and 15% elastane. They're available in black or cosmetic. I'd love to hear what others think, but personally I think I prefer the cosmetic, as I think the detail shows up better on that color. These tights cost £13.95.
