Katy Perry: ghd - David LaChapelle photos. And ghd comp!

Monday, April 11, 2011

With the recent ghd signing of Katy Perry as the brand's new global brand ambassador, the stunning Ms Perry will appear in a series of ads (which launch in May) themed around 'Iconic Era's of Style.'

Here is a sneak preview of the exciting new ghd campaign, photographed by world famous fashion photographer, David LaChapelle.

And hey, ghd are also running a comp!

Buy a ghd styler from your ghd salon between now and April 26 2011 and you can enter to win tickets to Katy's show and a meet and greet with the lady herself - for more info visit www.ghdhair.com.au.

The 'Iconic Eras of Style' by David LaChapelle features Katy photographed as a sleeping beauty, waking up in three different iconic eras of style - 50s glamour, 70s boho chic and 80s new wave (I am so a child of the 1980s - that one is my fave).

ghd Australia is excited to also be supporting Katy's California Dream's Australian Tour which kicks off in Melbourne on 28th April, making its way around the country during May. ghd are offering concert goers pre-styling at the venues - who wouldn't wanna look good for the glam Katy?

Some interesting facts about Fiji water: it's bottled in Fiji, far from pollution, acid rain or industrial waste. Fiji Water's aquifer is in a virgin ecosystem at the edge of a primitive rainforest. In fact, Fiji Water is an artesian water that comes from a source deep within the earth, protected by layers of clay and rock, in the remote Yaqara Valley of Viti Levu, Fiji island.

Fiji Water begins as rainfall filtering through layers of ancient volcanic rock over hundreds of years gathering silica. Silica is an essential mineral for the human body that may help strengthen bones, connective tissue, teeth, skin, nails, nails and hair. Silica is what gives the soft taste to the Fiji Water.

The brand is committed to reducing the amount of packaging they use to make their products by at least 20%, and to reducing manufacturing waste at the Fiji bottling facility by 33%.

Morphsuit-wearing men unite! It's Mr Morph 2011

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Morphsuit-wearing men will compete to be crowned Mr Morph 2011.

What, you ask? Read on.

The contest will be judged solely on talent and answers, not looks (although body shape could come in to play!). Contestants will compete in two categories, talent and questions and answer.

To be held at the Coogee Bay Hotel, Corner Coogee Bay Rd and Arden St, Coogee, where heat 1 will be at 3pm, on Saturday on 26 February, 2011.

The Morphsuit covers the whole body (even the head), you can breathe through them, see through them and even drink through them (I've been told some have even tried to pee in them... of course they have!) and Australians are the biggest buyers of Morphsuits per capita in the world. Clearly, the search for Mr Morph had to begin here.

“We all know how fun it is to dress up, but we’re taking this to a whole new level,” says Morphsuit co-inventor Fraser Smeaton. “Morphsuits are all about having fun and being noticed. So the person crowned Mr Morph has to do just that.”

There are about 100,000 morphs running around the globe (imagine them all in one place... Yikes!), and more than 480,000 Morphsuits fans on Facebook; sharing pics, videos and ideas of what to do in your Morphsuit.

Namely: surfing, sinking a few VBs at the cricket, sky-diving, playing footy, marathons and bungee jumping - just some of the things people have done in a Morphsuit.

Morphsuits are available in sizes M - XXL and in 29 colours and designs. The suits (as well as accessories like wigs, glasses, sweatbands and shoe covers) are available for purchase at http://www.morphsuits.com.au/. Morphsuit prices range from $75 to $85.

For more information go to http://www.morphsuis.com.au/ or www.facebook.com/morphsuits

You have been warned... and for these keen to embrace it all, head to the comp next Saturday!

Alex Perry for Diva: second collection + competition

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Alex Perry for Diva is back... and the collection is even more show stopping than the first.

In-store now at Diva Australia-wide, pieces include dream catcher earrings, beaded and diamante bracelet sets, butterfly rings and charmed bracelets, tulle headbands, feathered and draping chain necklaces, all in neutral colour palettes of silver, black, charcoal and a hint of ice blue.

Following the success of his first collection. Alex Perry is of course thrilled to see the second Alex Perry for Diva range hit stores.

"Perry girls and divas alike will have statement, glamorous accessories, that makes them feel, and look absolutely a million dollars - at a Diva price," said Perry.

My absolute fave piece is the divine feather and chain creation... I am nuts about feathers this season (or any season, really... so burlesque) and this little number does it with flair. And it's under $30, as is every single piece in the designer's range for the jewellery chain store.

And you can WIN these ice blue feather statement earrings! Just click 'follow' on the Josie's Juice blog page, then go here www.facebook.com/divafanpage and click 'like'.

Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards, featuring Justice Crew

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

If you're a bit fashion obsessed, and are especially inspired by young up and comers, this event is for you.

More than 900 Australian secondary students have entered the Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards (AATFA) ahead of the National Final in Sydney on Saturday 2nd October 2010 at Sydney Town Hall - and Josie's Juice blog is giving away tickets to the event, which will feature special guests TV dance sensation Justice Crew.

Now in its 21st year, AATFA provides a unique outlet for students from public and private secondary schools with a world-class forum to present original garments which they have designed and created. Students are competing for prizes in four sections: Casual Wear, Evening Wear, Wearable Art, plus Society and the Environment, plus the overall winner who is crowned Young Designer of the Year.

The judging panel at each State Final will select two finalists from each category to represent their state at the Sydney Town Hall National Final on Saturday 2nd October. Prizes include four Bernina sewing machines valued at more than $3,000 each and a scholarship at Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia in Melbourne.

The AATFA National Final also includes a catwalk show plus two live performances by Australia’s Got Talent winner, dance act Justice Crew.

“The Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards are very, very important for young people who want to follow their dreams,” Justice Crew says. “We believe everyone has a unique talent and the most valuable thing you can do with your life is to let your talent shine.”

The nine-piece dance act’s advice echoes the AATFA mission of “youth potential unleashed”. Last year’s AATFA overall winner and Young Designer of the Year James Penrose will launch his new summer collection while Sydney designer Fiona Buckingham will anchor the judging panel at the event.

Beyond the chance to develop their design and textiles skills, AATFA entrants experience a sense of accomplishment in keeping with the Apex community spirit.

Tickets are now on sale for the Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards at 3.30pm Sydney on Saturday 2nd October 2010 at Sydney Town Hall: admit one $65, admit two $95, admit family (two adults and two others) $130, admit group (up to ten) $285. To book, visit http://www.aatfa.org.au/ or phone 1300 GET TIX (438 849).
