Did you catch the first extended ep of Sherlock last night on Channel Nine?
I was really excited to finally be watching it, after weeks of heavy network promo-ing.
And I must say it was completely worth it.
I am not a fan of the gazillion crime dramas on telly. I often opt to watch trashy reality shows or docos - it can't be too heavy as I often write at night.
But this, wow... it demands your attention and is mesmerising from the outset.
For me, the biggest drawcard was seeing Martin Freeman in a role other than Tim from the UK's The Office.
I know he's been in other flicks, but I haven't been too bothered. But this seriously showcases his acting chops.
And then there's Benedict Cumberbatch. The man with the coolest name I have ever heard (bet he was hammered for it at school, though, by turd little bullies) is so entrancing, so captivating, I could not take my eyes off him.
With an angular face, narrow eyes, quirky mannerisms and a no-bullshit attitude, the modern-day Sherlock is just too brilliant.
And it's all just so... British. Which I adore.
Catch the next episode of Sherlock tonight on Nine, at 8.30pm.
