Kiddies' teeth and alarming stats

Monday, September 20, 2010

So, I've been working on an interesting PR project recently and was startled by some stats, especially as they relate to kids.

A new innovation in oral home healthcare – a world first from 3M (you know, the company renowned for innovations such as the Post-it note) – has launched a never seen before consumer product set to revolutionise home oral healthcare and to deliver an advanced level of preventive treatment accessible to all Australians.

Called Clinpro Tooth Crème, by 3M ESPE, it's an innovative new anti-decay toothpaste formulation that actively nourishes and restores teeth, whitens and cleans – all as you brush. Going beyond the plethora of supermarket brands, Clinpro Tooth Crème has a unique combination of fluoride and tri-calcium phosphate, which together deliver and increase the up-take of fluoride to the teeth compared to regular toothpaste, helping revitalise tooth enamel and re-mineralise teeth to repair, rebuild and reverse early decay.

So how does Clinpro Tooth Crème actually work? Where previously calcium and fluoride could not exist in the same formula, through 3M ESPE’s innovative research and breakthrough technology, during Clinpro’s production process a protective barrier is created around the calcium allowing it to coexist with the fluoride ions. In the process of brushing one’s teeth, as the toothpaste comes in contact with saliva, this barrier breaks down and makes the calcium, phosphate and fluoride readily available to the teeth.

And now, the alarming trend: Australia is showing record high cases of untreated tooth decay in kids – no surprise given the rise in sugar-laden food consumption – so preventive care is supremely important.

Clinpro Tooth Crème is available from dental professionals and leading online pharmacies. Visit http://www.testyourteeth.com.au/ to find an online stockist or for more information. RRP for Clinpro Tooth Crème is $25, and the vanilla mint flavoured tube can last up to a year.

Fish Spa in Turkey

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Fish can help you to treat serious skin diseases. A special thermal spa in Turkey allows patients from all over the world swimming in the pool and letting the fish eat all infected parts of their skin. Fish “doctors” can help people to fight chronic, intractable diseases. Some people might find this treatment a bizarre method, but it’s very helpful!

Victims of Synthol - False Kings of Bodybuilding

Friday, November 27, 2009

Synthol is composed of 85% medium-chain triglyceride oils (a fatty acid), 7.5% lidocaine (painkiller), and 7.5 5 benzyl alcohol. The preparation is injected deep into the muscle where it is encapsulated between the fascicles (bundles of muscle fibers) . With repeated injections, a larger volume of oil builds up inside the muscle, expanding its size like a balloon filling up with air. About 30% of what is injected is metabolized by the body. The other 70% remains lodged in the muscle where it breaks down very slowly over three to five years. There seems to be some issue of debate among bodybuilders as to whether or not Synthol actually lasts this long, and some believe it is even longer. Chris Clark, its inventor, is convinced that it somehow leads to permanent muscle growth in the effected areas, though even he is unsure of the mechanisms that would make this possible. Synthol users report amazing pumps while training, though this could be a result of the extra pressure of the accumulated oil.

Although Mr. Clark claims Synthol is completely safe to use, he also made a point in Greg Zulak's "Uncensored" several issues ago that he is not legally responsible for bodybuilders using it for anything other than a posing oil. Of course, injecting any amount of fatty-acid material intramuscularly can be perilous. This is complicated by the fact that scant few bodybuilders have any medical training. Without knowing the location of major nerves, it's easy to hit one by accident and cause permanent paralysis of muscle fibers in the area. With an injection of any type, abscess infections at the injection site are always a possibility. Often abscesses (extremely painful build-ups of infected tissue) require surgery to remove, not unlike a tumor. You haven't heard the worst yet. Should you inject into a vein or artery by mistake (avoided by drawing back on the syringe to make sure there is no blood, a simple precaution many folks are too squeamish to take) the fatty acids could be transported to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism, the heart, causing a heart attack, or perhaps even into the brain, leading to a cardioembolic stroke. All three cases are potentially fatal. For more details visit, bodybuilding.
