Apparently the collection is a work in progress as we are told to anticipate the collection to grow in the coming months represent authentic inspired collections that Page made famous.
Okay fair enough. So what do we have to work with so far? In a couple of words: nothing new.
So far there is The Bettie Page Lingerie Collection and The Bettie Pink Collection. What these represent is a few different items selected from throughout their catalog and represented as "Bettie [insert lingerie item here]" and passed off as new. For example, the Dominique Brief, which admittedly I have reviewed and liked, has been colored pink and renamed the Bettie Page Brief (pictured). Need another example? The Vibrant Garter Belt has been colored pink and renamed the Bettie Page Garter Belt. Moving on, the Vibrant Bullet Bra has been, you guessed it, colored pink and renamed the....wait for it.....Bettie Page Bullet Bra! Notice any sort of trend?
So, again, I'm not sure who exactly selected SIL, but I'm sure they're impressed. Since we're told to anticipate the collection to grow, I guess we could hope that there are designers feverishly drawing up new takes on vintage styles of lingerie at SIL headquarters, befitting the Queen of Pin Up, herself. Those more skeptical will probably just wonder what pre-existing pieces will be the next to color pink and don a new name. But until further notice, this looks like nothing more than some survivor of Ms. Page making a few bucks from her name to the benefit of a lingerie retailer that desperately needs to market it.
